Belonie Secondary School successfully conducted a tsunami evacuation drill in October as part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety.

Drill Highlights

The evacuation proceeded smoothly with:

  • All students and staff evacuating to designated assembly areas
  • Teachers in yellow safety vests conducting headcounts with clipboards
  • Clear communication through megaphones to coordinate the evacuation
  • Students lined up by class groups for easy identification and counting
  • Systematic roll call to ensure everyone was accounted for

Why We Practice

Living in a coastal location, it’s important that our school community knows how to respond quickly and safely in the event of a tsunami warning. Regular drills help ensure that both students and staff are familiar with evacuation procedures and can respond calmly and efficiently if needed.

The drill demonstrated that our emergency procedures work effectively and that our school community can coordinate well during safety situations.

We thank all students and staff for their cooperation in making this important safety exercise a success.
